About Us

The Town of Clarence Industrial Development Agency (IDA) was formed over 40 years ago under New York State authority for the purpose of attracting and nurturing businesses to help create jobs and build the economy through financial incentives and counseling assistance (see Incentives).

The Clarence IDA consists of a seven-member Board of Directors comprised of volunteers from different walks of the local business community, assisted by legal and business development professionals (Board of Directors). This team meets once monthly to consider and review business development projects, discuss potential incentives, and plan for the attraction and retention of businesses in Clarence.

In the last ten years alone, Clarence IDA projects have created over 500 new jobs in Clarence, while keeping the costs to the community per project at the lowest rates of any community in the area. The incentives and guidance given to businesses over the years have allowed innumerable companies to locate or expand in Clarence that otherwise may have not have been able to.

The benefits to the residents of Clarence include a more even distribution of the tax base between residential and commercial development, resulting in one of the lowest property tax rates in all of Western New York.
